- SP Standard Play recording. (WAV), short for Waveform audio format is standard for storing audio on PCs. It is the main format of uncompressed audio and is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh Operating systems.
- HP High Performance quality recording MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, more commonly referred to as MP3, is a common audio format for consumer audio storage, as well as a de facto standard encoding for the transfer and playback of music on digital audio players.

"Got this for my son to record lectures at Uni. Looks exactly the same as another well known brand costing three times as much. Very happy with results, my son says it works a treat. Just for a bit of fun I also got the DENPA Wireless FM transmitter Microphone bug which this device picks up on its buikt in FM tuner. BTW you get quite a few accessories too. I suppose others would give 5 stars but I'm just a tough critic."
